a cup o' joe

somewhere along the way, this story had its beginnings at a quaint little coffee shop nestled along the big thompson river.

i overheard two gentlemen talking about the faith and religion, so i thought i'd introduce myself and ask if they attended the local catholic church. i was hoping to advertise my name as a piano teacher for the summer.

well, that chance introduction turned into a 2-hour long conversation with a forever friend. an old soul in the truest and best sense of those words, bob shared with me his stories of visiting the yukon, his daughter who is a tattoo artist, the truths that gave him a happy marriage, and so much more. maybe i don't remember all of the details quite right, but i do know that bob and i were kindred spirits, both destined to meet and teach one another along the way.

over the years, bob has been sending me song lyrics that he writes and i've tried to put a few of them to song. he wrote one for Erin, one after my wedding, and today, a set of words that tells the story of our chance meeting and forever friendship. his words capture the essence of some of my most poignant life experiences and speak truths that i didn't know existed.
(this picture is at my wedding-my good friend bob is in the background.)

bob, thanks for meeting on many occasions over a cup o' joe to impart so much wisdom upon myself, and now, mr. marsh. we both appreciate you dearly.

i'm looking forward to sharing my melody for a cup o' joe with you soon.
