some day
i believe
i will be in a Place
where my Purpose
is realized
in full
until then, this life is "only practice for what we were meant for" as Grandma Rita told me last week.
i have to practice working hard, saving money, and paying bills to learn responsibility
i have to practice piano to offer the best of a gift that was given to me
i have to practice humility in order to learn how prideful i can be
i have to practice forgiveness so i can learn love
i have to practice letting go to make way for trust
that last one has been a struggle. i recently was accepted to graduate school to study music therapy. i had been waiting and waiting to get an answer as to whether i was accepted or not, and was really desiring to be accepted. well, once i was accepted, i immediately began a long mental checklist that hasn't found an end yet. where will i live? can i find a good roommate? how can i live while i pay off my undergraduate loans, pay rent, car insurance, health insurance, and add payments for graduate school?? if i don't go to grad school this year, will i ever go? what if my car breaks down? how can i afford to pay for that on top of all of this?
stop.
if i claim to follow Jesus Christ, i should follow His claim that nothing is impossible for those who believe. according to our faith, it will be done.
graduate school, neurological classes that are going to kick my butt, health insurance, more evenings of ramen noodle dinners, here i come.
i only get one go at this life. as my 90-something year old friend, Phyllis, told me, "you only got one chance to do it all!" she rode a helicopter over Mt. Rushmore and went on a motorcycle road trip last year. i believe Phyllis has followed her own advice adventurously.
and once again, what i've learned is that i still have more to learn.
